Are You Weary? He Stands With Arms Wide Open To You

September 17

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls,
for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30

Satan has managed to paint a very deceptive picture of the Lord to unbelievers. If you were to ask unbelievers what would be the one word they would use to describe their image of God, most would say, the “judge.” God surely IS the judge, but he’s so much more than that.

When Jesus walked on this earth he went about healing the sick, delivering the afflicted from demons, opening blind eyes, satisfying the needs of each one who came to him without regard to the reason for their affliction. We are sinners, all of us, every single one of us, and the Lord knows that. He who created you knows your every thought, your every motive, your every failure, your every sin, and still …he beckons you to come to him.

The Lord says that his yoke is easy. What is a yoke? It’s the harness that is put onto two steers pulling a cart. In other words, when you’re yoked with the Lord, he will always be beside you, he will lead and guide you aright. When you’re yoked with the Lord, you will be safe.

The Lord cares for you. He has seen your struggles. He knows your heartache. He feels your helplessness. And he holds out his arms to you, ready to welcome you and bring you close to his heart. And there, close to his heart, you will find rest.

Come to him, receive him as your Savior and your Lord. Your only regret will be that you didn’t do it sooner.
