They Won’t Tell You About The Cross

May 21

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit,
but test the spirits, whether they are of God;
because many false prophets
have gone out into the world.”

1 John 4:1

This really takes knowing the Word of God, because false prophets and teachers are not easy to spot. They smile a lot. They’re nice. They say pleasant things. They say things that make you feel good. But inside they are ravening wolves out to steal you away from the truth of God’s Word.

“For the time will come when
they will not endure sound doctrine,
but according to their own desires,
because they have itching ears,

they will heap up for themselves teachers,
and they will turn their ears away from the truth…”
2 Timothy 4:3-4

Satan never comes with a sign saying, “Here I come, intent on destroying you.” No, he comes as “an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15)

The ONLY way you’ll spot them is to know the Word of God thoroughly. These men and women use Scripture to appear credible. But is their message the message of God’s Word – the message of picking up your cross and following Christ? Do they mention the cost of following Christ? Or is it a message making you feel good? You can be sure that it won’t be the message of taking up your cross.

1 John 4: vs 5:
“They are of the world.
Therefore they speak as of the world,
and the world hears them.”

Unless you are knowledgeable in the Word of God (the Bible) you’ll be an easy target for them to bring in your dollars and have you proclaim their fame.

Friends, KNOW the Word of God. It’s the most important thing you can do in life.
