Believing Lies

May 9

“…there will be false teachers among you,
who will secretly bring in destructive heresies,
even denying the Lord who bought them,
and bring on themselves swift destruction.
And MANY will follow their destructive ways,
because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.”
2 Peter 2:1-2

“…the way of truth will be blasphemed.”

One characteristic of deception is that the deceived does not know he’s deceived. Satan looks for ways to put false prophets among the people, hiding them in churches, teaching them to talk the talk so that they sound true. How can we spot them? How can we be protected against being deceived? There is only one way and that is to know the Word of God thoroughly.

Incredibly, only a small percent of BELIEVERS have read the Word of God through. That’s how false teachers can therefore operate undetected in the churches, teaching things that people want to hear, deceiving them, and speaking against unpopular truths such as judgment, hell, repentance, taking up one’s cross and following Christ. The truth will be blasphemed.

“For the time will come
when they will not endure sound doctrine,
but according to their own desires,
because they have itching ears,
they will heap up for themselves teachers,

and be turned aside to fables.”
2 Timothy 4:3-4

Anyone who has not read the Word of God through – MULTIPLE times, you are a prime target for deception. It’s not enough to hear it once a week. You NEED to be in the Word of God DAILY. It’s your only hope against deception, because the lies will sound so good. Feed on the truth, fill yourself up with the truth. The Word of God is the ONLY protection we have against deception. Read it!
